Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यदाश्रौषं विविधांस्तात मार्गान्गदायुद्धे मण्डलं संचरन्तम् ।
मिथ्या हतं वासुदेवस्य बुद्ध्या तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥ १५२ ॥
