Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यदाश्रौषं मामकानां वरिष्ठान्धनंजयेनैकरथेन भग्नान् ।
विराटराष्ट्रे वसता महात्मना तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥ ११४ ॥
