Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तत्र यद्यद्यथा ज्ञातं मया संजय तच्छृणु ।
श्रुत्वा हि मम वाक्यानि बुद्ध्या युक्तानि तत्त्वतः ।
ततो ज्ञास्यसि मां सौते प्रज्ञाचक्षुषमित्युत ॥ १०१ ॥
