Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. मिषतां सर्वयोधानां ततस्ताः प्रमदोत्तमाः ।
समन्ततोऽवकृष्यन्त कामाच्चान्याः प्रवव्रजुः ॥ ५७ ॥

miṣatāṃ sarvayodhānāṃ tatastāḥ pramadottamāḥ |
samantato'vakṛṣyanta kāmāccānyāḥ pravavrajuḥ || 57 ||
