Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ते वै देवाः प्रत्यनन्दन्त राज;न्मुनिश्रेष्ठा वाग्भिरानर्चुरीशम् ।
गन्धर्वाश्चाप्युपतस्थुः स्तुवन्तः; प्रीत्या चैनं पुरुहूतोऽभ्यनन्दत् ॥ २५ ॥
