Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. संवर्त उवाच ।
आविक्षित शुभा बुद्धिर्धीयतां तव कर्मसु ।
याजनं हि ममाप्येवं वर्तते त्वयि पार्थिव ॥ २४ ॥

āvikṣita śubhā buddhirdhīyatāṃ tava karmasu |
yājanaṃ hi mamāpyevaṃ vartate tvayi pārthiva || 24 ||
