Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पशुसख उवाच ।
दास्य एव प्रजायेत सोऽप्रसूतिरकिंचनः ।
दैवतेष्वनमस्कारो बिसस्तैन्यं करोति यः ॥ ७४ ॥

dāsya eva prajāyeta so'prasūtirakiṃcanaḥ |
daivateṣvanamaskāro bisastainyaṃ karoti yaḥ || 74 ||
