Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. कृत्वा च दक्षिणाग्रान्वै दर्भान्सुप्रयतः शुचिः ।
प्रददौ श्रीमते पिण्डं नामगोत्रमुदाहरन् ॥ १५ ॥

kṛtvā ca dakṣiṇāgrānvai darbhānsuprayataḥ śuciḥ |
pradadau śrīmate piṇḍaṃ nāmagotramudāharan || 15 ||
