Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ततो देवास्त्रयस्त्रिंशद्दिशश्च सदिगीश्वराः ।
रुद्रो धाता च विष्णुश्च यज्ञः पूषार्यमा भगः ॥ १५ ॥

tato devāstrayastriṃśaddiśaśca sadigīśvarāḥ |
rudro dhātā ca viṣṇuśca yajñaḥ pūṣāryamā bhagaḥ || 15 ||
