Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ब्राह्मणादेव तद्भूतं प्रभवन्ति यतः प्रजाः ।
यतश्चायं प्रभवति प्रेत्य यत्र च गच्छति ॥ ११ ॥

brāhmaṇādeva tadbhūtaṃ prabhavanti yataḥ prajāḥ |
yataścāyaṃ prabhavati pretya yatra ca gacchati || 11 ||
