Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. शिष्यस्नेहेन भगवन्स मां रक्षितुमर्हसि ।
निःशेषो हि कृतो वंशो मम तैः पापकर्मभिः ॥ २५ ॥

śiṣyasnehena bhagavansa māṃ rakṣitumarhasi |
niḥśeṣo hi kṛto vaṃśo mama taiḥ pāpakarmabhiḥ || 25 ||
