Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. नारायणाय साध्याय मनुरिष्टाय धीमते ।
यमाय प्राह भगवान्साध्यो नारायणोऽच्युतः ॥ १६७ ॥

nārāyaṇāya sādhyāya manuriṣṭāya dhīmate |
yamāya prāha bhagavānsādhyo nārāyaṇo'cyutaḥ || 167 ||
