Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अप्राप्येह ततोऽनुज्ञां न शक्यः स्तोतुमीश्वरः ।
यदा तेनाभ्यनुज्ञातः स्तुवत्येव सदा भवम् ॥ १० ॥

aprāpyeha tato'nujñāṃ na śakyaḥ stotumīśvaraḥ |
yadā tenābhyanujñātaḥ stuvatyeva sadā bhavam || 10 ||
