Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यत्तद्रहस्यं परमं ब्रह्मप्रोक्तं सनातनम् ।
वक्ष्ये यदुकुलश्रेष्ठ शृणुष्वावहितो मम ॥ ५ ॥
