Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स वाचा कर्मणा चैव मनसा च द्विजर्षभ ।
प्रसादयति भूतानि त्रिविधे वर्त्मनि स्थितः ॥ ५ ॥

sa vācā karmaṇā caiva manasā ca dvijarṣabha |
prasādayati bhūtāni trividhe vartmani sthitaḥ || 5 ||
