Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. उवाच चैनं भगवांश्चिरस्यागतमात्मजम् ।
स्वागतं ते महाबाहो दिष्ट्या प्राप्तोऽसि मेऽन्तिकम् ॥ १४ ॥

uvāca cainaṃ bhagavāṃścirasyāgatamātmajam |
svāgataṃ te mahābāho diṣṭyā prāpto'si me'ntikam || 14 ||
