Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तास्त्वाष्ट्र उवाच ।
क्व गमिष्यथ आस्यतां तावन्मया सह श्रेयो भविष्यतीति ।
तास्तमब्रुवन् ।
वयं देवस्त्रियोऽप्सरस इन्द्रं वरदं पुरा प्रभविष्णुं वृणीमह इति ॥ २२ ॥

kva gamiṣyatha āsyatāṃ tāvanmayā saha śreyo bhaviṣyatīti |
