Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. न हि त्वा प्रस्थितं कश्चित्पृष्ठतोऽनुगमिष्यति ।
सुकृतं दुष्कृतं च त्वा यास्यन्तमनुयास्यति ॥ ३५ ॥

na hi tvā prasthitaṃ kaścitpṛṣṭhato'nugamiṣyati |
sukṛtaṃ duṣkṛtaṃ ca tvā yāsyantamanuyāsyati || 35 ||
