Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पश्य त्वं छिद्रभूतं हि जीवलोकं स्वकर्मणा ।
तत्कुरुष्व तथा पुत्र कृत्स्नं यत्समुदाहृतम् ॥ ८८ ॥

paśya tvaṃ chidrabhūtaṃ hi jīvalokaṃ svakarmaṇā |
