Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. द्वंद्वैस्तैस्तैरुपहतः सर्वतः परिशङ्कितः ।
बहुप्रत्यर्थिकं राज्यमुपास्ते गणयन्निशाः ॥ १५१ ॥
