Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. This portion also contains the Bhagavad-Gita. Alternative titles: Mahābhārata (महाभारत).

न स्त्री पुमान्वापि नपुंसकं च न सन्न चासत्सदसच्च तन्न ।
पश्यन्ति यद्ब्रह्मविदो मनुष्यास्तदक्षरं न क्षरतीति विद्धि ॥ २४ ॥

na strī pumānvāpi napuṃsakaṃ ca na sanna cāsatsadasacca tanna |
paśyanti yadbrahmavido manuṣyāstadakṣaraṃ na kṣaratīti viddhi || 24 ||
