Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. इत्युक्ताः संन्यवर्तन्त शोकार्ताः पुत्रवत्सलाः ।
अङ्के शिरः समाधाय रुरुदुर्बहुविस्तरम् ॥ ६५ ॥
