Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पेयापेयं कुतः सिद्धिर्हिंसन्ति च परस्परम् ।
गम्यागम्यं तदा नासीत्परस्वं स्वं च वै समम् ॥ २० ॥

peyāpeyaṃ kutaḥ siddhirhiṃsanti ca parasparam |
gamyāgamyaṃ tadā nāsītparasvaṃ svaṃ ca vai samam || 20 ||
