Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. एषा ते नैष्ठिकी बुद्धिः प्रज्ञा चाभिहिता मया ।
श्वा ते निदर्शनं तात किं भूयः श्रोतुमिच्छसि ॥ २० ॥

eṣā te naiṣṭhikī buddhiḥ prajñā cābhihitā mayā |
śvā te nidarśanaṃ tāta kiṃ bhūyaḥ śrotumicchasi || 20 ||
