Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यावद्धि प्रथते लोके पुरुषस्य यशो भुवि ।
तावत्तस्याक्षयं स्थानं भवतीति विनिश्चितम् ॥ ३२ ॥

yāvaddhi prathate loke puruṣasya yaśo bhuvi |
tāvattasyākṣayaṃ sthānaṃ bhavatīti viniścitam || 32 ||
