Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. साङ्कृते रन्तिदेवस्य यां रात्रिमवसद्गृहे ।
आलभ्यन्त शतं गावः सहस्राणि च विंशतिः ॥ ११९ ॥

sāṅkṛte rantidevasya yāṃ rātrimavasadgṛhe |
ālabhyanta śataṃ gāvaḥ sahasrāṇi ca viṃśatiḥ || 119 ||
