Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. धर्म्यं धर्मेण धर्मज्ञे प्राप्तास्ते निधनं शुभे ।
पुत्रास्ते भ्रातरश्चैव तान्न शोचितुमर्हसि ॥ १८ ॥
