Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अनेयस्त्ववमानी यो दुरात्मा पापपूरुषः ।
दिष्टमुत्सृज्य कल्याणं करोति बहुपापकम् ॥ ४ ॥

aneyastvavamānī yo durātmā pāpapūruṣaḥ |
diṣṭamutsṛjya kalyāṇaṃ karoti bahupāpakam || 4 ||
