Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. महास्वनं महाकायं हर्यक्षं बभ्रुपिङ्गलम् ।
सुदीर्घघोणानखरं सुपर्णमिव वेगिनम् ॥ ३७ ॥

mahāsvanaṃ mahākāyaṃ haryakṣaṃ babhrupiṅgalam |
sudīrghaghoṇānakharaṃ suparṇamiva veginam || 37 ||
