Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तत्सैन्यं भरतश्रेष्ठ मुहूर्तेन महात्मभिः ।
अवध्यत रणं प्राप्य त्रातारं नाभ्यविन्दत ।
प्रतिष्ठमानं तु भयान्नावतिष्ठत दंशितम् ॥ ११ ॥
