Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. गजाश्वरथिभिर्हीनास्त्यक्तात्मानः पदातयः ।
एकविंशतिसाहस्राः संयुगायावतस्थिरे ॥ ३७ ॥
