Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अथाभ्यधावंस्त्वरिताः शतं रथाः शतं च नागार्जुनमाततायिनः ।
शकास्तुखारा यवनाश्च सादिनः सहैव काम्बोजवरैर्जिघांसवः ॥ १६ ॥
