Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स गाण्डिवाभ्यायतपूर्णमण्डलस्तपन्रिपूनर्जुनभास्करो बभौ ।
शरोग्ररश्मिः शुचिशुक्रमध्यगो यथैव सूर्यः परिवेषगस्तथा ॥ ५७ ॥

sa gāṇḍivābhyāyatapūrṇamaṇḍalastapanripūnarjunabhāskaro babhau |
śarograraśmiḥ śuciśukramadhyago yathaiva sūryaḥ pariveṣagastathā || 57 ||
