Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. कपिर्ह्यसौ वीक्ष्यते सर्वतो वै ध्वजाग्रमारुह्य धनंजयस्य ।
दिवाकराभो मणिरेष दिव्यो विभ्राजते चैव किरीटसंस्थः ॥ २६ ॥

kapirhyasau vīkṣyate sarvato vai dhvajāgramāruhya dhanaṃjayasya |
divākarābho maṇireṣa divyo vibhrājate caiva kirīṭasaṃsthaḥ || 26 ||
