Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. सुदक्षिणादवरजं काम्बोजं ददृशुर्हतम् ।
प्रांशुं कमलपत्राक्षमत्यर्थं प्रियदर्शनम् ।
काञ्चनस्तम्भसंकाशं भिन्नं हेमगिरिं यथा ॥ १०६ ॥
