Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. निपपात ततः साथ हेमदण्डा महाघना ।
निपतन्ती महोल्केव व्यराजच्छिखिसंनिभा ॥ २३ ॥

nipapāta tataḥ sātha hemadaṇḍā mahāghanā |
nipatantī maholkeva vyarājacchikhisaṃnibhā || 23 ||
