Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. विपताकं वियन्तारं विवर्मध्वजजीवितम् ।
तं कृत्वा द्विरदं भूयः सहदेवोऽङ्गमभ्यगात् ॥ १४ ॥

taṃ kṛtvā dviradaṃ bhūyaḥ sahadevo'ṅgamabhyagāt || 14 ||
