Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तथैव पाण्डवीं सेनां व्यूढां दृष्ट्वा युधिष्ठिरः ।
धार्तराष्ट्रान्हतान्मेने सकर्णान्वै जनाधिप ॥ ३४ ॥
