Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तन्निधाय धनुर्नीडे द्रोणः क्षत्रियमर्दनः ।
आददेऽन्यद्धनुः शूरो वेगवत्सारवत्तरम् ॥ ४३ ॥

tannidhāya dhanurnīḍe droṇaḥ kṣatriyamardanaḥ |
ādade'nyaddhanuḥ śūro vegavatsāravattaram || 43 ||
