Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. विव्याध दशभिस्तीक्ष्णैः शरैर्वज्रनिपातिभिः ।
शक्त्या चैनमथाहत्य पुनर्विव्याध सप्तभिः ॥ ७ ॥

vivyādha daśabhistīkṣṇaiḥ śarairvajranipātibhiḥ |
śaktyā cainamathāhatya punarvivyādha saptabhiḥ || 7 ||
