Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. विधुन्वानौ धनुःश्रेष्ठे संदधानौ च सायकान् ।
विसृजन्तौ च शतशो गभस्तीनिव भास्करौ ॥ ३९ ॥

vidhunvānau dhanuḥśreṣṭhe saṃdadhānau ca sāyakān |
visṛjantau ca śataśo gabhastīniva bhāskarau || 39 ||
