Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. श्लाघमानेषु भूतेषु फल्गुनस्यामितान्गुणान् ।
केशवस्य च सौहार्दे कीर्त्यमानेऽर्जुनं प्रति ।
अभिशस्ता इवाभूवन्ध्यानमूकत्वमास्थिताः ॥ ४ ॥
