Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ततो बले भृशलुलिते परस्परं निरीक्षमाणे रुधिरौघसंप्लुते ।
दिवाकरेऽस्तंगिरिमास्थिते शनैरुभे प्रयाते शिबिराय भारत ॥ ७७ ॥

tato bale bhṛśalulite parasparaṃ nirīkṣamāṇe rudhiraughasaṃplute |
divākare'staṃgirimāsthite śanairubhe prayāte śibirāya bhārata || 77 ||
