Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तान्यर्जुनः सहस्राणि दश पञ्चैव चाशुगैः ।
अनागतान्येव शरैश्चिच्छेदाशुपराक्रमः ॥ १२ ॥

tānyarjunaḥ sahasrāṇi daśa pañcaiva cāśugaiḥ |
anāgatānyeva śaraiścicchedāśuparākramaḥ || 12 ||
