Eighth year inscription of Rajadhiraja II at Pallavarayanpettai (a.d. 1173-74) (ARE 123 of 1912; SII, IV, 626).

Rajaraja II died in a.d. 1172. About a year later, Tiruchchirrambalam Udaiyan also died suddenly. Vedavanam Udaiyan of Palaiyanur succeeded him as the Prime Minister and General. He distributed (not a royal gift) the landed property of Tiruchchirrambalam Udaiyan among the dose relatives of the deceased Tiruchchirrambalam Udaiyan, including some portions to the dowager queen of Rajaraja II.

(We saw that after settling the domestic problem, Vedavanam Udaiyan carried on the second war with the Pandyas who were being helped by the Simhalese (a.d. 1170-78). His victory in this second war against the Pandyan-Simhalese alliance was rewarded by the grateful Chola ruler with a gift of ten velis of land at Palaiyanur (12th year of Rajadhiraja II, Tiruvalangadu inscription).)
