This is verse 2.39 of the Jnaneshwari (Bhavartha-Dipika), the English translation of 13th-century Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita.—The Dnyaneshwari (Jnaneshwari) brings to light the deeper meaning of the Gita which represents the essence of the Vedic Religion. This is verse 39 of the chapter called Samkhya-Yoga.

Verse 2.39: “This is the view-point a la Samkhya” (Discriminating-pose) set forth for thee; now however, hear the view-point a la ‘Yoga’ (Even-tempered-activism) equipped with which view-point, O Son of Pritha, thou shalt rid thyself of the bondage of karman (action). (230)

Commentary called Jnaneshwari by Jnaneshwar:

So far. (I) preached to you in brief the path of Samkhya Philosophy (Path of knowledge): Now hear what I shall tell you with certainty of the Path of Yoga—(even-tempered activism). When one is imbued with the principle of duty for duty’s sake (free from expectation of any reward), one is entirely immune against any contagion (bondage) of action. One wearing an armour of steel, can bear a shower of of arms and can come out with unquestioned victory at the same time protecting himself.
