The Sanskrit edition of the Harivamsa, an important addition to the larger epic Mahabharata, existing in several editions. The text deals with the ancient Indian Solar and Lunar dynasties leading and recounts the history of Krishna.

Verse 78.32

प्राप्स्यते नृप संस्कारं कंसः प्रेतगतेऽपि सन् ।
कुले महति ते जन्म वेदान्विदितवानसि ।
कथं न ज्ञायते तात नियतिर्दुरतिक्रमा ॥ स्थावराणां च भूतानां जङ्गमानां च पार्थिव ।
पूर्वजन्मकृतं कर्म कालेन परिपच्यते ॥ श्रुतवन्तोऽर्थवन्तश्च दातारः प्रियदर्शनाः ।
ब्रह्मण्या नयसंपन्ना दीनानुग्रहकारिणः ॥ लोकपालसमास्तात महेन्द्रसमविक्रमाः ।
क्षितिपालाः कृतान्तेन नीयन्ते नृपसत्तम ॥ धार्मिकाः सर्वभावज्ञाः प्रजापालनतत्पराः ।
क्षत्रधर्मपरा दान्ताः कालेन निधनं गताः ॥ स्वयमेव कृतं कर्म शुभं वा यदि वाशुभम् ।
प्राप्ते काले तु तत्कर्म दृश्यते सर्वदेहिनाम् ॥ एषा ह्यन्तर्हिता माया दुर्विज्ञेया सुरैरपि ।
यथायं मुह्यते लोको ह्यत्र कर्मैव कारणम् ॥ कालेनाभिहतः कंसः पूर्वकर्मप्रचोदितः ।
न ह्ययं कारणं तत्र कालः कर्म च कारणम् ॥ सूर्यसोममयं तात कृत्स्नं स्थावरजङ्गमम् ।
कालेन निधनं गत्वा कालेनैव च जायते ।
कालस्तु सर्वभूतानां निग्रहे प्रग्रहे रतः ।
तस्मात्सर्वाणि भूतानि कालस्य वशगानि वै ॥ स्वदोषेणैव दग्धस्य सूनोस्तव नराधिप ।
नाहं वै कारणं तत्र कालस्तत्र तु कारणम् ॥ अथ वाहं भविष्यामि कारणं नात्र संशयः ।
पलायनपरः कालः किं करिष्यत्यकारणम् ।
कालस्तु बलवान् राजन्दुर्विज्ञेया हि सा गतिः ॥ परावरविशेषज्ञा यां यान्ति समदर्शिनः ।
गतिः कालस्य सा येन सर्वं कालस्य गोचरम् ।
ब्रवीमि यदहं तात तदनुष्ठीयतां वचः ॥ ३२ ॥

నాహం వై కారణం తత్ర కాలస్తత్ర తు కారణమ్ ॥
అథ వాహం భవిష్యామి కారణం నాత్ర సంశయః ।
పలాయనపరః కాలః కిం కరిష్యత్యకారణమ్ ।
కాలస్తు బలవాన్ రాజన్దుర్విజ్ఞేయా హి సా గతిః ॥
పరావరవిశేషజ్ఞా యాం యాన్తి సమదర్శినః ।
గతిః కాలస్య సా యేన సర్వం కాలస్య గోచరమ్ ।
బ్రవీమి యదహం తాత తదనుష్ఠీయతాం వచః ॥ ౩౨ ॥

કુલે મહતિ તે જન્મ વેદાન્વિદિતવાનસિ ।
કથં ન જ્ઞાયતે તાત નિયતિર્દુરતિક્રમા ॥
સ્થાવરાણાં ચ ભૂતાનાં જઙ્ગમાનાં ચ પાર્થિવ ।
પૂર્વજન્મકૃતં કર્મ કાલેન પરિપચ્યતે ॥
શ્રુતવન્તોઽર્થવન્તશ્ચ દાતારઃ પ્રિયદર્શનાઃ ।
બ્રહ્મણ્યા નયસંપન્ના દીનાનુગ્રહકારિણઃ ॥
લોકપાલસમાસ્તાત મહેન્દ્રસમવિક્રમાઃ ।
ક્ષિતિપાલાઃ કૃતાન્તેન નીયન્તે નૃપસત્તમ ॥
ધાર્મિકાઃ સર્વભાવજ્ઞાઃ પ્રજાપાલનતત્પરાઃ ।
ક્ષત્રધર્મપરા દાન્તાઃ કાલેન નિધનં ગતાઃ ॥
સ્વયમેવ કૃતં કર્મ શુભં વા યદિ વાશુભમ્ ।
પ્રાપ્તે કાલે તુ તત્કર્મ દૃશ્યતે સર્વદેહિનામ્ ॥
એષા હ્યન્તર્હિતા માયા દુર્વિજ્ઞેયા સુરૈરપિ ।
યથાયં મુહ્યતે લોકો હ્યત્ર કર્મૈવ કારણમ્ ॥
કાલેનાભિહતઃ કંસઃ પૂર્વકર્મપ્રચોદિતઃ ।
ન હ્યયં કારણં તત્ર કાલઃ કર્મ ચ કારણમ્ ॥
સૂર્યસોમમયં તાત કૃત્સ્નં સ્થાવરજઙ્ગમમ્ ।
કાલેન નિધનં ગત્વા કાલેનૈવ ચ જાયતે ।
કાલસ્તુ સર્વભૂતાનાં નિગ્રહે પ્રગ્રહે રતઃ ।
તસ્માત્સર્વાણિ ભૂતાનિ કાલસ્ય વશગાનિ વૈ ॥
સ્વદોષેણૈવ દગ્ધસ્ય સૂનોસ્તવ નરાધિપ ।
નાહં વૈ કારણં તત્ર કાલસ્તત્ર તુ કારણમ્ ॥
અથ વાહં ભવિષ્યામિ કારણં નાત્ર સંશયઃ ।
પલાયનપરઃ કાલઃ કિં કરિષ્યત્યકારણમ્ ।
કાલસ્તુ બલવાન્ રાજન્દુર્વિજ્ઞેયા હિ સા ગતિઃ ॥

ಕಥಂ ನ ಜ್ಞಾಯತೇ ತಾತ ನಿಯತಿರ್ದುರತಿಕ್ರಮಾ ॥
ಸ್ಥಾವರಾಣಾಂ ಚ ಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಜಙ್ಗಮಾನಾಂ ಚ ಪಾರ್ಥಿವ ।
ಪೂರ್ವಜನ್ಮಕೃತಂ ಕರ್ಮ ಕಾಲೇನ ಪರಿಪಚ್ಯತೇ ॥

ನ ಹ್ಯಯಂ ಕಾರಣಂ ತತ್ರ ಕಾಲಃ ಕರ್ಮ ಚ ಕಾರಣಮ್ ॥
ಸೂರ್ಯಸೋಮಮಯಂ ತಾತ ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಂ ಸ್ಥಾವರಜಙ್ಗಮಮ್ ।
ಕಾಲೇನ ನಿಧನಂ ಗತ್ವಾ ಕಾಲೇನೈವ ಚ ಜಾಯತೇ ।
ಕಾಲಸ್ತು ಸರ್ವಭೂತಾನಾಂ ನಿಗ್ರಹೇ ಪ್ರಗ್ರಹೇ ರತಃ ।
