अथ च या नाग-कन्याह् पूर्वोक्तास् ता गोप-कन्या भूत्वा
बलभद्र-प्राप्त्य्-अर्थं गर्गाचार्याद् बलभद्रपञ्चाङ्गं
गृहीत्वा तेनैव सिद्धा बभूवुह्. ताभिर् बलदेव एकदा प्रसन्नह्
कालिन्दी-कूले रास-मण्डलं समारेभे. तदैव चैत्र-पूर्णिमायां
पूर्ण-चन्द्रो ऽरुण-वर्णह् सम्पूर्णं वनं रञ्जयन् विरेजे.

atha ca yā nāga-kanyāh pūrvoktās tā gopa-kanyā bhūtvā
balabhadra-prāpty-arthaṃ gargācāryād balabhadrapañcāṅgaṃ
gṛhītvā tenaiva siddhā babhūvuh. tābhir baladeva ekadā prasannah
kālindī-kūle rāsa-maṇḍalaṃ samārebhe. tadaiva caitra-pūrṇimāyāṃ
pūrṇa-candro 'ruṇa-varṇah sampūrṇaṃ vanaṃ rañjayan vireje.

English translation of verse 8.9.3:

The previously described snake-girls became gopīs and, in order to attain Lord Balarāma's association, on Garga Muni's advice followed the five methods of worshiping Lord Balarāma. In this way they became perfect. Pleased with them, Lord Balarāma enjoyed a rāsa-dance with them on the full-moon night of the month of Caitra (March-April), a night when the red moon reddened the whole of Vṛndāvana forest.
