विलीनतां निकुञ्जेषु
सम्मुखेन तु दर्शनम्
ग्रहणं क्वात्र चीराणां
हरणं वेणु-वेत्रयोः
vilīnatāṃ nikuñjeṣu
sammukhena tu darśanam
grahaṇaṃ kvātra cīrāṇāṃ
haraṇaṃ veṇu-vetrayoḥ
vilīnatām—hiding; nikuñjeṣu—in the forest groves; sammukhena—face-to-face; tu—indeed; darśanam—the sight; grahaṇam—grabbing; kva—where?; atra—here; cīrāṇām—of the garments; haraṇam—stealing; veṇu-vetrayoḥ—of the flute and stick.
English translation of verse 6.18.38:
Where is the pastime of hiding in the forest groves? Where is the pastime of suddenly meeting Him face-to-face? Where is the pastime of tugging at our saris?
Where is the pastime of stealing His flute and stick?
