एवं हि निर्धनो जातो
वेश्या-सक्तो महा-खलः
तस्मिन् गजाह्वये रम्ये
चौर्य-कर्म चकार ह
evaṃ hi nirdhano jāto
veśyā-sakto mahā-khalaḥ
tasmin gajāhvaye ramye
caurya-karma cakāra ha
evam—thus; hi—indeed; nirdhanaḥ—without wealth; jātaḥ—born; veśyā- saktaḥ—attachment to prostitutes; mahā-khalaḥ—great rogue; tasmin—in that; gajāhvaye—in Hastināpura; ramye—beautiful; caurya-karma—theft; cakāra—did; ha—indeed.
English translation of verse 6.13.21:
In this way he became penniless. Because he was addicted to visiting prostitutes, that rogue became a thief in the beautiful city of Hastināpura.
